I've never lived anywhere that didn't have wall-to-wall carpeting, so when I ended up in a small place with wood laminate floors, I wasn't sure how I'd get on with them. It took me one month to realize they aren't for me. I don't like the sparse look they give a room, and I hate how my bare feet can feel every bit of grit. I HAD to have rugs!My decorating taste took an unusual turn (green with a Romany twist), so I knew the style was just right. The color...? Normally, I wouldn't touch this shade of green with a ten-foot pole, but it was this or something that wouldn't fit well.When I got the rug, the instant I laid it down I knew I was in love! The lighter shade of green added life to the darker hues on the couch and windows, and it really helped make that tiny space open up like it was a much bigger room.It laid down like a dream! What little curling existed at the corners disappeared in just a couple days. The short pile is soft and feels smart (not rough) against bare feet, as opposed to the "messy" feeling shag carpets always feel to me. And it's so big and heavy duty, it's not going anywhere! Granted, I have the front half of my couch resting on it, but I don't think this thing would slip if you begged it to.It's beautiful and elegant, but will clearly stand up to average traffic. My Shark Rotator cleans it quite nicely, and it doesn't look like it's doing the rug any harm. I haven't had any spills (no children or pets), so I can't attest to spot cleanup, but it doesn't seem like that'll be a problem.If you want to dress up a room, a good rug and window treatments should be your first go-to. This rug is literally a great foundation to build on. I'm very happy with the money I spent on it.
